How do I cancel subscriptions on Android?

Updated October 2026 · How we answer

Short answerOpen the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, go to Payments and subscriptions, then choose Subscriptions and cancel the one you no longer want.

Canceling Through Google Play

Most Android subscriptions bought through the Play Store can be managed in the Play Store app. Open the app, tap your profile picture or initials, and select Payments and subscriptions. Then choose Subscriptions to see every active plan tied to your Google account.

Select the subscription, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts. The app usually shows when access ends, and you typically keep access until the current billing period finishes. Look for a confirmation screen or email before you close the app.

  • Open Google Play and tap your profile
  • Go to Payments and subscriptions
  • Choose Subscriptions and select the plan
  • Confirm cancellation and save the receipt

When the Plan Is Not in Google Play

Some subscriptions were bought directly on a website or through the app's own billing, so they will not appear in the Play Store list. In that case, you need to cancel through the company's website or app account settings. The charge history on your bank or card statement can show which company billed you.

If you cannot find a cancel option, contact the company and ask for written confirmation. Keep the confirmation number, the date you canceled, and any screenshots you took along the way.

If you subscribed through a family plan or shared account, usually only the account owner can manage it. Ask the family organizer to cancel, or remove the subscription from the shared group. A quick check of your Google account settings shows who controls the billing.

Common mistakes

  • Deleting the app without canceling the subscription first.
  • Assuming the plan is canceled because the app is no longer used.
