How do I cancel subscriptions on Google Play?
Cancel in the Play Store
Subscriptions bought through Google Play are managed from your Google Play account, not from inside each app. Open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then go to Payments & subscriptions and choose Subscriptions. Pick the subscription and follow the prompts to cancel. Access usually continues until the end of the paid period.
- Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture
- Go to Payments & subscriptions
- Choose Subscriptions and select the app
- Tap Cancel subscription and confirm
Check for charges outside Play
Some apps bill through their own website or through a phone carrier, and those charges will not appear in Google Play. If you cannot find a subscription in Play, check the app's account settings or your bank statement. Contact the company directly with the charge date and amount.
Request a refund
Google Play has a refund request option for eligible purchases, and the time window depends on the type of purchase and the developer's policy. Use your order history in the Play Store to find the charge and start the request from there. Keep a screenshot of the cancellation in case you need it later.
Common mistakes
- Uninstalling the app and assuming billing has stopped.
- Forgetting that some subscriptions bill through a website rather than Google Play.
- Missing the refund window because you waited too long to ask.
